Local hero Jason White has claimed back-to-back Targa Tasmania titles after dominating the five-day marathon in his Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale.

In securing his fourth Targa Tasmania title, White and his co-driver, John White, also claimed consecutive CAMS Australian Targa Championship wins.

Denyer thrilled with Showroom triumph

The RDA Brakes Showroom competition went to Grant Denyer and Dale Moscatt after a convincing drive that saw them take victory by 17 minutes. 

The pair had trailed the similar Renault of Adam Spence in the early part of the rally, but after Spence went off the road, the result was beyond doubt. Denyer loved everything about the event, and was glowing in his praise. 

“With the lead we had today I was thinking about taking it easy and just cruising home, but we somehow finished third fastest outright on Mount Arrowsmith,” Denyer said.

We fixed our electrical problems from yesterday, and it was good to find that, but now we’ve got fuel problems. Despite that, we had a corker of a run through Murchison and threw all caution to the wind and went as fast as you could possibly go through there. 

We’ve got 40 seconds on Steve (Glenney) now, but it would nice to have a minute up our sleeve, but unless he has problems it will go right down to the wire, because we seem to be fairly even on times and I reckon it will only be dramas which will separate us at the end of the event.

Local hope Jason White is on track to take his fourth victory in Targa Tasmania, after a brilliant drive on the penultimate day saw him increase his lead by more than half a minute across the day’s 132 competitive kilometres.

The Lamborghini Gallardo driver was outright fastest on five of the day’s eight tarmac stages and now leads by 57 seconds with one day to go, as second placed Steve Glenney, in his Nissan GT-R, struggled to keep pace with his arch rival.
